Update 8/21: Mike Richards has stepped down from hosting the daytime syndication, and Jeopardy! will resume having guest hosts for that slot. We will update as more happens. The original post follows below:

Who are: Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik?

That’s right, there are two! On Wednesday, August 11th “Jeopardy!” announced their two new permanent hosts, Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik. First off, congratulations to the pair. It’s a well-deserved and earned move for them. Secondly, this ends the show’s fairly long run of guest hosts, having started in January 2021 with Ken Jennings and will finish on August 13th with Joe Buck.

Bialik is a neuroscientist and author, renowned for her portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler on “The Big Bang Theory”. The actress and author is also an executive producer on, as well as plays a starring role in Fox’s “Call Me Kat”. Meanwhile, Richards has been an executive producer on “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” for a couple of years, having previously been in the same role for “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right”.

New Jeopardy hosts Mayim Bialik (L) and Mike Richards (R)

Mike Richards will host the long-running daily syndication and Mayim Bialik will host the primetime and spinoff series’ of the show. This will be the first time Jeopardy splits its full-time hosting duties.

Alex Trebek held the title as host for “Jeopardy!” for nearly 4 decades and his legacy will never be matched. This pair moving in to fill his shoes isn’t trying to replace his memory, but the show goes on. Trebek, unfortunately, passed away in November 2020 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

“Jeopardy!” is Getting a Spinoff Series

Sony also revealed that Bialik is getting to host a primetime spinoff of this game show, a new segment called “Jeopardy! National College Championship” airing on ABC sometime in 2022.  This spinoff will feature “15 colleges and universities from across the country battling head-to-head for two weeks of intense competition.”

Both of these hosts spent some time guest-hosting following Trebek’s passing, in addition to a whole cycle of other potential hosts auditioning for the spot. Some of the more notable names from that list we haven’t mentioned yet were LeVar Burton, Aaron Rodgers, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, and Robin Roberts.
