There has been a lot of buzz around the show since the departure of the beloved Alex Trebek, and the overwhelming theme of each guest host is that no one could ever truly replace Alex Trebek as the star host of the show for over 30 years.
Who’s in the Running?
A simpler question would be, who is not in the running? After a stint by Ken Jennings, one of the winningest contestants in the shows history, there will be several more guest hosts to go through the mill before the producers, and public, land on one they can stand seeing for years into the future. Next up is Mike Richards, seemingly a ghost in the pop-culture world, but he has been an executive producer for Jeopardy since earlier last year.
He is no stranger to the show or game shows in general. Richards has worked on The Price is Right, Let’s Make a Deal, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Viewers may be in for a bit more drama from the podium, seeing that Richards was featured in two episodes of popular soap, The Bold and the Beautiful.

The List of Possibilities
After the show producer Mike Richards finishes his run of hosting, the show will move onto tv journalist Katie Couric, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, tv doctor Dr. Mehmet Oz, TODAY anchor Savannah Guthrie, show star Mayim Bialik of Call Me Kat, CNN host Anderson Cooper, CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and 60 Minutes correspondent Bill Whitaker.
How did Ken Jennings Do?
According to a TV Insider poll of about 14,000 participants, 11,000 said that Jennings is “Good! He’s fitting in well.” Despite the overwhelming support, it will be quite some time before a host is chosen. The host will need the support of the public and the production staff to get the gig.
