The internet’s favorite Jeopardy! guest host and Reading Rainbow alumn, LeVar Burton is set to host a new trivia-style game show! His game of choice, with Hasbro, is Trivial Pursuit! What do we know, what don’t we know, and the biggest question – what live and/or virtual game show that EGS offers is the most like Trivial Pursuit?
What’s Up With This New Trivia Game Show?
Let’s start off with what we know – LaVar Burton will be hosting a new game show. LaVar Burton Entertainment and Entertainment One (owned by Hasbro) teamed up to record and produce a serialized Trivial Pursuit-inspired game show. Burton will host and co-executive produce the series. It’s not quite Jeopardy! However, it’s still a fun, recognizable, trivia knowledge game.
What we don’t know is when the new series is slated to premiere or what channel will carry it. We also don’t know the content of the game itself, will it be a giant Trivial Pursuit board with players maneuvering pieces like they’re at home, but on stage instead? Will players be the game pieces, traveling about? Could they do something closer to Jeopardy!, making a trivia category game and removing the board itself? Those questions should be answered as we learn more.
